Devon food photographer post: Bread is love and makes a beautiful mess.

Recently I have been working with lots of different artisan foodies, both on location, in restaurants and in the studio. Having the freshest produce on a shoot always helps, but having the best quality foods that you can get is a must. This week one of the projects I photographed was a series of images on bread for Red Dog Bakery, an artisan bakery. Bread is a staple food in many countries, including our own. There is also an art to it: the type of grains/flours used, the types of starter, the room temperature, then it is mixed, proved, shaped, baked in a hot oven and then usually shared and finally eaten. Good quality bread lasts a week and the sourdoughs that Red Dog make are excellent. As you can imagine for a photoshoot - flour and loaves everywhere but beautiful smells and tastes afterwards. I was also lucky enough to go on one of their sourdough courses a few weeks ago, which they run near Holsworthy. All photos food photographer Guy Harrop.

North Devon wedding photographer on location at Castle Hill Estate, Filleigh

Devon photographer Guy Harrop on location at the beautiful Holwell Temple at Castle Hill Estate in Filleigh, Devon. The Temple, which is decidedly Roman in design, was originally built in 1771 and destroyed by a fire a century ago. The building has now been restored to its former glory and provides an exciting new venue for weddings in the grounds of the estate which lies on the edge of Exmoor. Guy who has recently launched a wedding photography side to his business at www.guyharropweddings.com also specialises in photographing buildings, interiors and food. His work is regularly featured in both national magazines and newspapers.

Enjoying the summer months as a food photographer.

The summer is a great time to be a food photographer: the colours, the tastes, the abundance of choice, the smiles and sunshine laughter. Family prepared food in the summer, UK photo by Guy Harrop

Devon Wedding photographer photoshoot in the latest edition of The Wedding Factor Magazine out this week.

Recently photographer Guy Harrop was on location for a magazine shoot in the beautiful scenic fishing village of Clovelly on the North Devon coast. The day started with Guy briefing the team, then with the weather onside, the makeup and hair stylists got to work. Creating the eye-catching images wasn't as straightforward as it looks as everyone had to work against the tide, which in Clovelly, comes in at a phenomenal rate. Said Guy, " It was an amazing day, luckily I had pre-visited the venue and had an idea of the shots I wanted to produce. Also the sunlight was quite harsh that day so we changed my location to make use of the shadows and available lighting, balancing it with off camera flash. Being creative is my job so being able to adapt to conditions, even if up to my knees in seawater seems pretty normal really. This year I have seen my wedding side to my business really take off with lots of exciting bookings for 2016 already."

Devon food photographer on location shooting patisserie for food brochure in the South West, UK.

Breakfasts are a fun time to be shooting food photography on location, especially when they involve great coffee and freshly baked patisserie. Sometimes you can be lucky and shoot both and yes, the smells and temptation can be overwhelming. This is a foodie photo commission one morning on the edge of Exmoor - one from a set.
