Artist Damien Hirst's giant pregnant female sculpture arrives in Ilfracombe, Devon





A giant 65ft sculpture of a pregnant woman cast in bronze by artist Damien Hirst has finally arrived in Ilfracombe, Devon. The work, called 'Verity' weighs over 25 tonnes and depicts a pregnant naked woman holding a sword and bearing the scales of justice. Giant 'Verity' was made in over 40 individual castings pieced together and has undergone testing to ensure it was capable of withstanding the extreme force of high winds and sea spray. The piece of art will be installed at the front of Ilfracombe pier, where she will stand while on loan to North Devon Council for a period of 20 years.

Damien Hirst's 'Verity' bronze statue of a pregnant woman arrives in Ilfracombe, Devon. The statue to be placed at the harbour front stands at 20.25 metres in height and weighs over 25 tonnes.
